IN 2013, two guys got together to decide on how they were going to run a gym.
The only things they had going for them were a bit of experience in both running a gym and a business. But one thing for sure, they wanted to come up with a place that people would feel comfortable working out in, filled with friendly trainers. Not a mega gym, no frills, small, comfy and simple. But a place that would leave you feeling as though you were one step closer to your fitness goals after a workout.
Fast forward 3 years later, we were all gathered at 762/764 North Bridge Road. A first level shop house. With about 40-50 friends. I say friends because most of them were clients, who we now consider as friends, even family. Some who have been with us from the very start, and followed us all the way, for the opening of Fitness Bravo Version 2.0.
Your first step into the gym will have you feeling like it’s a lot bigger than the old gym. You are greeted by a nice spacious comfortable reception and waiting/chillout area.
Take a left and you are straight into the group class area/obstacle course rig, then as you move further in, you will find yourself in the weights training area, and after that, is where you will find the washrooms and changing rooms.
The opening itself started with a welcome and an introduction to all the trainers/coaches.
One thing is for sure, we have grown since that day in 2013 when we started with 2 trainers.
After that, we were supposed to hear from one of the founders of Fitness Bravo. Someone you have probably seen around but you probably didn’t know was one of the masterminds behind this gym we have all grown to call home. But as fate would have it, he was called away for work and was unable to make it for the launch. But left a heartfelt message to all who attended, including the trainers and his partner in crime, Johnny, and his wife.
Then it was time to hear from the man of the hour. We all know him as a no nonsense, straight talking head trainer, Johnny Yeo. Who on that day, was accompanied by his wife, parents and new born baby girl. Johnny is and was instrumental is the whole concept behind Fitness Bravo and basically the engine room of the gym.
Working tirelessly to keep everything in tip top shape, making sure that everything was in working order, keeping the accounts in check, the equipment in check, and making sure that both clients and trainers were happy. This was Johnny, a man of few words (apart from the occasional shouts of “FOCUS!” when you were training, but a man who kept things going).
Johnny was then asked to say a few words before the “ribbon cutting” ceremony, done the only way we knew how.
How else could you or would you cut a ribbon made of dumbbells? With a clean and press, of course.
And with that, Fitness Bravo Version 2.0 was open at its new home at 764/762 North Bridge Road. The day was filled with a fitness challenge that gave the guests a chance to win some cool prizes from our sponsors, EPN, Tag Team Laser Tag, and Yoga +. It was a race against the clock to complete 10 medicine ball throws over our monkey bars. With our eventual winners going to Yan Meng for the guys and Lili for the girls.
A healthy spread of yummy bites was from Artistry and our official supplement supplier EPN was also there with some Pre-and post-workout drinks.
The lucky draw saw the top prize of 12 personal training sessions (with Johnny no less) going to one lucky winner, Chester.
All in all, it was a great launch and it was great to see everyone coming down to celebrate this day with us, and like we always do at Fitness Bravo, have fun too.
For now, it is business as usual we look forward to seeing you come down to achieve you fitness/health goals as well as to take time out to have some fun while doing it. You can head over to our website www.fitnessbravo.sg to find out more about new Customized Personal Training packages as well as new group classes, mainly, SHIIT, Core Blaster, Calisthenic, Functional Strength and a special ladies only class.
See you soon! And as Johnny would say…. FOCUS!
